backstage release v3.1.0

Added

  • (agent-platform) Start every session through start_session by @teemow — For operators: the portal now starts every session through agent-manager’s start_session tool as the signed-in person, the one place where an agent and a workspace’s access check meet. Needs agent-manager 1.13.0 or later on every installation the portal serves.
  • (agent-platform) Explain an empty or incomplete agents list on Customize by @marians — Customize › Agents explains an empty list again: No agents yet with a Create your first agent link, kagent is not installed on <environment> with Go to Installations, a note for an environment that could not be asked, and a thin bar while more agents load.
  • (agent-platform) Scope the Model hosting pages to one environment by @marians — Model hosting (Running models, GPU pools, Model cache) has the Environment select in its header, shared with Customize › Models, so you can see and change which environment it shows. The Could not read … environment warnings now read as one sentence for one environment and for several.
  • (agent-platform) Add a Show tool activity switch to the session page by @marians — The session page has a Show tool activity switch after the start time. Turned off, it shows only the conversation: messages, questions and the approval the session waits on. The portal remembers the choice per person.
  • (agent-platform) Say where the Usage data starts when the range reaches back further by @marians — When the selected time range on Usage reaches back before an environment’s records, Overview, Cost and Connectors say since when calls were recorded, such as The gateway has recorded model calls only since 9 Sep 2026, so its figures cover 36 of the 90 days. Cost no longer compares spend against a partly covered period.
  • (agent-platform) Move the skill page’s facts into its Overview and share the connector page’s Used by list by @marians — The skill page is a single column: source, path, branch and Latest commit sit in a Where it lives section of the Overview tab. Latest commit opens the skill’s folder at that commit on GitHub, replacing the View source button. Used by lists agents as a connector’s Used by does.
  • (agent-platform) Workspaces tab lists an Organization’s workspaces by @teemow — Customize has a Workspaces tab, where an installation lists the workspace-manager in muster. It lists your Organization’s workspaces with their sources, repositories, storage, last sync and sessions, and offers Sync now and Delete…. Creating and editing workspaces come later.
  • (agent-platform) Explain a missing kagent on Home the way Customize › Agents does by @marians — When there is no agent to start a session with, Home says why as Customize › Agents does: kagent is not installed (with Go to Installations), the environment that runs it is switched off in Cluster access, or No environment this portal can reach runs kagent. It no longer reads as if nobody had created an agent.
  • (app) Show the full Giant Swarm logo on the Agent Platform sign-in page by @marians — The Agent Platform sign-in page shows the full Giant Swarm logo in its brand colours, instead of the ant beside the words “Agent Platform”. A deployment with its own logo shows that one.
  • (muster) Open a connector’s Tools tab on the Connectors search by @marians — A connector opened from a tool-name search on Customize › Connectors shows its Tools tab filtered to that search. A search that finds nothing says which tools it could not search, such as The tools of <connector> were not searched: they need your sign-in.
  • (muster) Offer Edit in Git for GitOps-managed workflows by @marians — A workflow managed through Flux has Edit in Git… in its page’s ⋮ menu, as connectors do. It names the HelmRelease or Kustomization that manages the workflow, links to its source and explains how to change it through a pull request.
  • (muster) Details tab with technical details on the connector page by @marians — A connector’s page has a Details tab with its Sign-in, health, Calls this month and Added date, replacing the facts column. A Technical details section holds its configuration, authentication, health detail and GitOps source, and opens by itself while the connector has failed.
  • (muster) Split the workflow page into Overview, Usage and Details tabs by @marians — A workflow’s page is organized in Overview, Usage and Details tabs in a single column. View manifest in the ⋮ menu shows the full Workflow resource as YAML, with Copy manifest.
  • (muster) Give every connector tool a page of its own and list the tools as links by @marians — Each tool of a connector opens on its own page, with its description, input schema, a form to Run it and the full result. The connector’s Tools tab lists the tools as links marked Reads or Changes things, and going back keeps its search and filter.
